Batsiranai Craft Project
Batsiranai Craft Project is comprised of twenty-six women affected by or living with AIDS. These single women are also mothers of severely disabled children and live in the crowded suburbs of Harare, Zimbabwe.
In May 2004, Batsiranai members purchased a small house which they converted into a business center. The women work at the center making recycled bottlecap earrings and embroidered aprons. This center has grown to include day care, physical therapy for the children with disabilities and a small gardening project.
Purchasing Batsiranai's handicrafts enables these economically disadvantaged women to better provide for their families and disabled children.
