Bike Month Galimoto

In honor of Bike Month and in recognition of the ingenious Kenyan children who create their own Galimotos (bicycle rider push toys), Momentum staff took on the challenge of creating our own LIFE SIZED Galimoto.

We teamed up with Community Cycles‘s director Josh Brown, who dove head first into the project and feet first into the dumpster and sent us this amusing email, “I've spent the afternoon at the shop digging through the overflowing dumpster and pulling out parts, engineering, and scratching my head. The parts I need are now strapped to my bike and ready to be assembled…can't wait. I love stuff like this.”

The unveiling of our LIFE SIZED Galimoto, constructed from Community Cycle’s salvaged materials, will take place on June 12th as part of our Park(ing) Space Event. We are also holding a "Name the Galimoto Contest" and the lucky winner will receive a $50 Momentum Gift Certificate.

Green Festival

In May, Momentum joined other eco-friendly businesses at the first annual Denver Green Festival, which attracted over 21,500 eco-enthusiasts. Our participation in the Green Festival not only helped us connect with socially and environmentally responsible shoppers in our community but also helped us connect to a much broader audience through Momentum’s first two TV debuts. Momentum was featured on Fox News and on CBS’s Green Living Program.

World Fair Trade Day Event

In recognition of Word Fair Trade Day, Momentum and Mother’s Acting Up (MAU) hosted Peruvian artisans Evangelina Pizarro and Ayde Riveros. These resourceful women left Peru, for the first time, to share their personal accounts of how Fair Trade standards have provided their families with economic stability and their communities with social stability. Their visit was filled with meaningful cross-cultural exchanges and lovely surprises, including, Lissette Perez’s unexpected appearance in traditional Cusco attire (see photo below). After visiting Momentum, the artisans continued their cross country tour of Fair Trade stores.

A Fair Trade Wine and Chocolate reception, in recognition of Mother's Day, followed the artisan visit and provided the perfect ending to a phenomenal World Fair Trade Day. In honor of the world's Mother's, Momentum donated $250 from the day’s sales to Mother’s Acting Up (MAU).

Earth Day at Momentum- 92 Trees Planted!

We are thrilled to announce that, with your help, Momentum planted a total of 92 trees this Earth Day (40 more than last year)! We gave away 50 Colorado Blue Spruce saplings and planted another 42 through The National Arbor Day Foundation.

Summer Break

Momentum is taking a "summer break" from our monthly community events and newsletter. For fun this summer, we will be participating in the East End's First Friday Gallery Walks. On the first Friday of every month, from 6-8pm, we will have special "First Friday" sidewalk sales. Hope to see you there!
