May 3rd, 2009 (CBS Denver)- Momentum featured on CBS Green Living

In May, Momentum joined other eco-friendly businesses at the first annual Denver Green Festival, which attracted over 21,500 eco-enthusiasts. Our participation in the Green Festival not only helped us connect with socially and environmentally responsible shoppers in our community but also helped us connect to a much broader audience through Momentum’s first two TV debuts. Momentum was featured on Fox News and on CBS’s Green Living Program.

2009 (Mother's Acting Up)- The Moment: Calendar

BOULDER, CO- Momentum founder's Kevin & Jenny Natapow were featured in the 2009 Mother's Acting Up engagement calendar.

Momentum is dedicated to the Fair Trade business model, which places people and sustainability at the heart of every business decision. Every product Momentum carries is crafted by hand and provides employment opportunities to artisans around the world: recycled sari throws are quilted by women who escaped Calcutta’s sex trade, aprons are embroidered by mothers with disabled children in Zimbabwe, and greeting cards are painted by women in Denver, CO experiencing homelessness and poverty. Ten percent of Momentum’s profits are donated to social justice and environmental causes.

December, 2008 (Boulder Weekly)- Momentum: Green Gift Guide

March, 2008 (Sunset Magazine)- Momentum featured in "What to do in the Rockies"

BOULDER, CO- On Pearl Street's trendy East end, two new hot spots are dedicated to fair trade products, guaranteeing that artisans and farmers receive a living wage and enjoy healthy working conditions. At Momentum, shop for a jewel-hued silk pillow from Ethiopia or sustainable-crop bamboo bowls from Vietnam. Then step into the nearby Cup Espresso Café for fair trade organic java.

Fall, 2007 (Boulder Magazine)- Momentum To Inspire: Fair-trade boutique aims to spread goals of social and environmental responsibility

BOULDER, CO- Jenny and Kevin Natapow have a lot in common, perhaps a bit more than most young couples. Both Asian Studies majors in college, both holders of advanced degrees from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vt., both passionate about fair trade, they became engaged while trekking in Nepal. In Kathmandu, Jenny worked for the Asia Foundation’s sex-trafficking prevention program, and Kevin worked for the United Nations as a translator for Tibetan refugees. So it’s not too surprising that when they moved to Boulder three years ago, it was to lay the groundwork for their fair-trade shop, Momentum.

October 3rd, 2007 (School for International Training: OurWorld)- Building Momentum: SIT grads open fair trade business

BOULDER, CO- Kevin and Jennifer Natapow, PIM 62s, offer Boulder CO a new opportunity to 'shop for change'.



Kevin and Jennifer Natapow, alums of SIT's Master's Program in Intercultural Service, Leadership, and Management, recently opened Momentum Fair Trade Shop in Boulder, CO. The couple shares their journey with OurWorld on how their experience working with Tibetan refugees and studies at SIT has inspired them to offer opportunities to 'shop for change'. According to Jennifer, "We have SIT to thank for the skills that made it possible to open our fair trade shop." BOULDER - Sept. 8 was the most recent girlcott, where MAU members and volunteers celebrated a new store in Boulder called Momentum, 15 th and Pearl streets. They praised this store for featuring all Fair Trade certified products - meaning it ensures sustainable wages, no child labor and creates economic opportunities for women in impoverished areas of the world.

September 14, 2007 (Boulder County Business Report)- New store gives fair trade 'Momentum' in Boulder

BOULDER - Kevin and Jenny Natapow had a dream of opening a fair-trade store for more than seven years. Prior to coming to Boulder they had both been working in Nepal. Jenny was working for the Asia Foundation, an organization that helps to stop sex trafficking of women. Kevin was working for the U.N. as a translator for Tibetan refugees. When they came back to the U.S. they wanted to continue to help the artists and groups they had seen living overseas in marginalized situations.

August 6, 2007 (Daily Camera)- Building Momentum: New Pearl Street boutique focuses on fair-trade wares

BOULDER, COLO. — One of the biggest draws to Momentum, Boulder's newest fair-trade store? Well, says Kevin Natapow, co-owner, it's that shoppers don't have to do exactly that — ask questions. They don't have to worry that what they buy was made in a sweatshop or that their money will go to support inhumane conditions, he said. They know, before they even purchase anything, that Momentum only sells products whose crafters were given livable wages and conditions, and Natapow said customers often tell Momentum how much they appreciate fair-trade products.
